Brooke Stratton has an inviting sound, drawing you in with her close-feeling voice and solid rhythm sections. Ample harmonies and light accompaniments build a melodic atmosphere around her lead vocal, maintaining a very clean feeling throughout. Her songs are mixed well and make it easy for the listener to simply kick back and enjoy the music. Be sure to check out "Break Free," which adds an element of dance and modern club feel, this was my personal favorite. A fellow Arizonan, Brooke is from Mesa, AZ not far from where I grew up. This is what she had to say in our brief interview together:1. When did you originally start playing music? Tell us a little bit about your introduction to the great world of music.
I think the first time I sang was when I was 3 years old! My mom was a country singer and while I was growing up I went to all of her concerts and shows and wanted to be just like her. I would sing in front of the mirror with a hair brush in my hand and I would copy everything she did and would practice every day to try and sing like her! When I was 7 years old, I had a recital that I performed at and I sang “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion. I truly knew then that I wanted to grow up and share my music and voice with the world. I have grown up in a very musical environment and it has been a part of my life since I was a little girl :-)
2. What song of yours is your favorite and why? Can you tell us about what creative inspiration went into the songwriting or production of the track?
My favorite song of mine would have to be “Not Meant To Be.” My family was over for Easter and I was talking with my little sister Brittney and we were talking about guys that we have dated and both kind of said that sometimes it’s just not meant to be. So I started writing lyrics and she gave a beat and we spent a couple of hours on it until we felt we had something. After 4 hours of laying down the track, vocals, and harmonies I walked out with my song, and really loved how it came out! Family is everything to me, so the fact that I got to write and produce that song with my sister, made it that much more meaningful! I feel like it is a song that a lot of people can relate to, because everyone goes through heartache and breakups and realize that it just wasn’t meant to be!
3. Do you have any upcoming shows, events, or other news your fans should be aware of?
