Cute Girl Shreds on Guitar (Juliette Valduriez)

This girl's name is Juliette Valduriez and she lives in France.  I chose her for Riff of the Month because she brings a relaxed playing style to the table along with impressive speed, accuracy, and feel.  In the past, playing the guitar has mostly been a male-dominated activity, but it's refreshing to see more and more females entering the realm of 4, 6, and 7 strings these days.  Not to mention, most of my guy friends who play guitar would have a really tough time keeping up with these chops.  To check out more of her material, please visit her youtube channel .  I'll leave you with one more of her impressive takes.  Cheers!

Gear Review: Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Mixing Headphones

BeyerDynamic DT-880 Pro Mixing Headphones I've owned the BeyerDynamic DT-880 Pro mixing cans now for a year and a half. In that time, I've spent a significant amount of time with these things stuck on my ears, and they have always been extremely reliable. More importantly, I feel they deliver a very tight and flat frequency response. Why Amateurs and Pros Need Good Cans If you don't have an excellent near-field setup, with monitors placed in the right spots with adequate acoustic treatment in the subject location (see this article on the importance of bass traps , and this one on the importance of sound diffusers ), you will always experience comb-fil...

Artist Spotlight: Liza Finn from London, UK

Liza Finn has been writing, playing and singing all her life. Raised in a creative, bohemian environment, this London songbird was influenced by numerous earlier singer-songwriters through her childhood, which led her to study classically. This progression helped her develop the unique, layered, cunningly composed, sweetly and powerfully delivered songs she presents today. Liza recorded her debut EP, ‘Perceptions’, produced by Paul O’Neill (Sophie Ellis Bextor, The Verve, Gary Barlow), in 2011, and used 2012 to tour the UK festival circuit and beyond. In November 2012 she released her first single, ‘Home’: a haunting, ethereal track with light, pure vocals, inspired by a sense of place and a love of the sea. Liza is currently working on an EP for release later this year following a further series of UK festival appearances and other live performances up and down the country. In her songs, Liza’s hypnotic, bejewelled voice effortlessly weaves its way through rich melodies...
