This list could have contained many more names, like Lorde (see our article about Lorde here), Kesha, Shakira, Pink, Katy Pary, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and others, but the following are a select few who have pending agendas, new music, and/or other interesting things coming up this year.
5. Rihanna
Rihanna continues to diversify her career by networking with other musicians and businesses. For example, her ad campaigns with Viva Glam and Balmain feature sexy pictures of the pop star, and her work on Eminem's newest album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 has been recognized quite directly as the album's "Monster" has stayed at the #1 spot on Billboard's Top 100 for 4 weeks now.
4. Miley Cyrus
With racy comments like this continuing to flow from this up and coming pop star, she has managed to grab the attention of just about everyone. What do you think: is no press bad press, or is her somewhat extreme nature going to hurt her in the long run?
3. Beyonce
Beyonce played at the Super Bowl last year, and we all know by now that she took the world by storm after releasing an entire new album completely by surprise -- right at the end of 2013. It's already netted a huge sales volume, and continues to rise in popularity into the early days of 2014. This strong move, along with the controversy that goes along with her use of a sound clip from the tragic Challenger space shuttle mission, Beyonce is sure to continue lighting up the news and charts the rest of this year.
2. Hyolin a.k.a. "Hyorin" (Sistar)
Hyorin is a young female pop singer in the Korean group Sistar. In addition to enjoying great success in the group, she's made waves by successfully covering songs by artists such as Beyonce. The album Love & Hate made #1 on the Korean music charts in 2013, and her infamous crab dance has the usual folks wondering if she's a little "too" sexy. We're sure to see more out of this young star in the coming year.
1. Lady Gaga
One of my personal all-time favorites, Lady Gaga has a strong tour planned for 2014 that kicks off this March in New York, NY at the Roseland Ballroom. Just weeks ago, she electrified the crowd of The Voice by performing "Do What U Want" along with Christina Aguilera. This year she will surely continue to remain a cornerstone in modern female pop music. If you haven't seen her video with Christina Aguilera yet, check it out below!
